How to read the zodiac
Our profiles use the Western tropical zodiac. The familiar date ranges are approximate: if your birthday falls near a boundary, the year, time and location can matter. A Sun-sign profile is a starting point for a symbolic reading, rather than a complete description of a person.
Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Initiative, warmth and expressive energy are common themes. The fire-sign joke is volunteering to make the entrance before anyone has chosen the soundtrack.
Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Practicality, craft and consistency form the earth-sign vocabulary. These signs have probably checked the details and chosen the comfortable chair.
Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Ideas, conversation and perspective connect the air signs. Their cosmic detour usually begins with one more question and a second browser tab.
Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Feeling, memory and imagination are water-sign themes. A story’s atmosphere can matter as much as the setting itself.
A birth chart or natal chart adds more placements. Explore the difference between Sun, Moon and rising signs, or read our guide to astrology compatibility before treating any pair of signs as a verdict.
