Book of Dead: the theme and the format

Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead is Play’n GO’s Egyptian adventure slot. An archaeologist, temples and an ancient book give it a more narrative identity than a candy or jewel game. The book is not just scenery: it is central to the feature structure. Our review follows the original game, rather than treating every book-themed slot as an equivalent.

The archaeological setting gives each important symbol a place in the story. It works particularly well if you enjoy a named protagonist and a treasure-hunt aesthetic. The expanding-symbol feature deserves attention because its evaluation differs from an ordinary combination. Our cover imagines a golden book beneath a constellation wheel; it is our own interpretation of the adventure, not a depiction of a particular result.

How Book of Dead works

The book acts as a wild and scatter within the game’s rules. Ordinary wins follow the active paylines, while the scatter has its own triggering role. Inspect the paytable to separate those functions before exploring. A visually dramatic book landing is still interpreted by the rules on the screen, not by an omen from your natal chart.

Three scatter symbols unlock ten free spins. Before that sequence, an ordinary symbol is randomly chosen as the special expanding symbol. It can expand to cover a reel when the expansion would produce a qualifying prize under the feature rules. The expanded-symbol combinations do not need to sit on adjacent reels. Additional qualifying scatters during free spins can award another ten spins.

RTP, game versions and what to check

The help screen in the game you open is the source for its exact paytable, return-to-player percentage, stake range and any optional feature. Operators can offer different configurations or related releases. A provider’s headline figure should not be assumed to apply to every version. Check the title and rules before comparing two lobbies.

RTP describes a theoretical long-run return over a very large number of wagers. It is not a promise for one person, a session target or a prediction of the next result. Volatility describes the distribution of outcomes, rather than when a feature is due. A string of losing spins does not make a bonus due. Astrology changes none of these properties.

Our horoscope take: which zodiac signs fit the mood?

Virgo & Scorpio: an eye for detail and a taste for mystery make excellent companions on a fictional expedition.

Virgo is the expedition researcher, checking what the book does before entering the temple. Mercury supplies the notebook and a useful appetite for detail.

Scorpio is drawn to the hidden chamber, the transformation story and the difference between a clue and a conclusion. The mysterious atmosphere is a theme; it does not conceal a predictable sequence of spins.

Leo is delighted that the expedition already has a starring role and suitably dramatic lighting. The cosmic joke is arriving with a costume change for the discovery scene.

These pairings use the familiar language of astrology to describe taste. A birth chart contains more than a Sun sign, and your moon sign or rising sign may give you a different symbolic mood. That is a reason to explore a different aesthetic, not a way to influence a random game.

How it compares with other games in our lounge

Book of Dead suits a character-led ancient adventure. Gates of Olympus offers Greek mythology with pay-anywhere tumbles instead of the same book feature. Starburst offers cosmic gems and re-spins with less story. Compare the actual mechanics as well as the artwork: sharing an ancient setting does not make two games behave alike.

Where to find Book of Dead

The casino links alongside this review lead to a listed game page or the operator’s catalogue. We include the casino’s real logo and an internal review so you can read about the atmosphere before leaving. A listing can change and access depends on your location, age and account eligibility. Search the exact game and provider name in the current lobby.

A game page and a casino promotion answer different questions. Read any offer’s separate conditions, including eligible games, wagering requirements, expiry and withdrawal restrictions. If a demo is available, it can help you learn the controls without using a real-money balance. We do not treat a game’s presence in a lobby as a guarantee about bonuses or access.

The SlotHoroscope verdict

A recognisable archaeological adventure with a special-symbol feature that gives the review something concrete to explain. Our Virgo–Scorpio pairing is about research and mystery. The treasure is fictional scenery, not an expectation that every expedition will end well.

Treat the treasure hunt as a theme, not an expectation.
